SUMMARY:Colorado's New Judicial Discipline Process: An Update on Implementation - Webinar
DESCRIPTION:In November 2024\, Colorado voters approved Amendment H\, fundamentally reshaping how the state investigates and disciplines judges — creating an independent Judicial Discipline Adjudicative Board and launching a multi-year rule-making effort to govern the new process. Nearly two years later\, the Judicial Discipline Rule-Making Committee has adopted a substantial body of new rules covering everything from the definition of “judge” and board jurisdiction to discovery\, hearings\, and case resolution. Join members of the Rule-Making Committee for an overview of the rulemaking process and a look at the formal rules finalized in May 2026.

SUMMARY:Korey Wise Innocence Project Gala 2026
DESCRIPTION:Get ready for a night packed with good vibes: a plated dinner\, complimentary wine and beer plus a cash bar\, an exciting live auction\, a silent auction featuring art by incarcerated artists\, inspiring speakers\, programming and much more! \nThis year has been one of the most impactful in our organization’s history. In April 2026\, KWIP secured the release of Stephen Martinez after 27 years in prison based on flawed shaken baby syndrome evidence. We are also close to overturning the convictions of two other clients\, both of whom have spent decades incarcerated. Both courts have determined that unreliable evidence and serious errors had undermined their convictions but other issues are holding up a final resolution.

SUMMARY:Voting Rights After Louisiana v. Callais - Webinar
DESCRIPTION:The United States Supreme Court’s recent voting-rights decisions are transforming the rules governing political power. The latest of these decisions was issued on April 29\, 2026\, in Louisiana v. Callais\, holding that Louisiana’s creation of an additional majority-minority legislative district was an unconstitutional racial gerrymander. This CLE examines how Callais may encourage increasingly aggressive partisan redistricting\, why minority voters may ultimately bear the costs\, and how the weakening of the Voting Rights Act presents both a profound loss and an opportunity to reconsider the future of voting-rights advocacy. Come with questions to this interactive Zoom lunch presentation with University of Colorado Law School Professor Douglas M. Spencer\, Ira C. Rothberger Chair in Constitutional Law\, as he analyzes the Court’s decision.

SUMMARY:Reading Financial Statements Like an Accountant: An Accounting Primer for Litigators and Dealmakers
DESCRIPTION:Financial statements are everywhere in legal practice—buried in discovery\, driving deal terms\, and often at the heart of the dispute itself—yet most lawyers were never taught how to actually read one. This session\, led by two CPAs\, breaks down the core accounting concepts behind financial statements and shows where those statements can mislead or fall short of reflecting a company’s true economic condition. Attorneys will leave with practical tools for spotting red flags\, evaluating financial evidence\, and speaking the language of accounting in litigation and transactional work alike. \n

SUMMARY:2026 Martz Symposium on Public Lands: "Towards a New Era for Public Lands - Restoration and Renewal"
DESCRIPTION:America’s public lands are entering a period of profound transition. Ecological change\, evolving social and cultural values\, Tribal co-stewardship\, and shifting political dynamics are reshaping how we understand public lands and our responsibilities to them and to each other. This symposium explores what it would mean to move toward a new era for public lands grounded in restoration of the land and renewal of our shared responsibility to care for it.   \nDay 1 focuses on the relationship between Indigenous Peoples and public lands\, featuring recent case studies alongside conversations about lessons learned and opportunities to reform laws and policies to strengthen the role of Tribes and Indigenous Peoples in decisions shaping the future of their ancestral homelands and cultural resources. \nDay 2 focuses on the broader public interest in public lands\, including the interests of future generations. All Americans benefit today from decisions made by earlier generations to uphold a shared public interest in the stewardship\, management\, and protection of public lands. Bringing together leading voices from academia\, advocacy organizations\, government\, Tribal communities\, and industry\, Day 2 explores how we can best fulfill our responsibilities to future generations in an era of ecological and social change. \nYou can find the agenda and link to event information here: Oct 22 and 23: 2026 Martz Symposium on Public Lands | Getches-Wilkinson Center | University of Colorado Boulder \nPlease consider joining and Register NOW.

SUMMARY:CDLA/CTLA Professionalism Event
DESCRIPTION:CDLA/CTLA Professionalism event honoring award winners Emily Swanson from Lasater and Martin\, as well as CTLA member Tim Galluzzi of CGH Injury Lawyers. \nFollowing the presentation of the awards\, Federal Court Judge S. Cato Crews will introduce Federal Court Magistrate Judge Maritza Dominguez Braswell\, a nationally recognized judicial expert on the impact of AI in the Federal Courts. This CLE will cover: \nColorado’s 2026 AI amendments to the Colorado Rules of Professional Conduct to both acknowledge the use of AI in the legal field\, and remind lawyers of their duties related to new technologies.\nAI’s impact on work product and confidentiality. Judge Braswell will discuss the rules and doctrinal framework courts use to evaluate whether using an AI tool impacts work product protections\, and how protective orders can address AI analysis of an opponent’s confidential discovery. She will also discuss the use of AI by parties and experts\, and what lawyers should be thinking about as AI is increasingly integrated into various workflows. \nAccess to justice. Many self-represented litigants already use AI to prepare filings. Judge Braswell will discuss what that means for courts and lawyers litigating against pro se parties\, as well as the access to justice implications of this shifting landscape. \nJudge Braswell’s AI Guidance. Judge Braswell has chosen not to issue a standing order on AI and does not require lawyers to disclose their AI use. Instead\, she provides guidance and educational information on her court page. She will explain why she chose guidance over directives and walk through the key points of that guidance for practitioners.
