SUMMARY:Bourbon Justice CLE: The Law and Lawlessness of Bourbon
DESCRIPTION:Dive into the wild world of bourbon law and lore at Bourbon Justice CLE – where whiskey meets the courtroom! This one-hour seminar teaches participants the oftentimes surprising ways that bourbon law shaped America and the development of our commercial laws. \nHistorically\, Kentucky Bourbon is responsible for the growth and maturation of many substantive areas of law\, so much so that American commercial law developed around (and because of) bourbon. Bourbon also provided the bedrock for current-day trademark law and consumer protection law. And just as it has each time since the late 1800’s\, whenever bourbon experiences a surge in popularity\, fakes\, frauds\, and criminals follow. The current bourbon boom is no different. Charlatans\, counterfeiters\, frauds\, and thieves have emerged again\, and this time they are creating made-for-TV drama. During these historical times of boom and bust\, the nation turns to lawyers and fraud investigators to rein in criminal activity and corruption. \nCourse materials will be provided on-site. Space is limited.

SUMMARY:Colorado Bans Private Equity Fee Sharing and Lead Generation - Webinar
DESCRIPTION:The Colorado Legislature recently passed two laws that may impact your practice. \nFirst\, HB26-1421 bans “Alternate Business Structures” allowing non-lawyer ownership in law firms\, co-counseling with ABS firms\, and certain types of Managed Services Organization arrangements in Colorado. Second\, SB26-174 bans what is commonly known as “lead generation” for Colorado law firms. Specifically\, it bans buying or selling leads or cases on a per-lead or per-case basis. It does not prohibit traditional legal marketing\, legal directories\, or using non-profits like the CBA to acquire cases. \nJoin Kevin Cheney and Jason Wesoky\, two of the primary authors of both bills\, as they breakdown the new laws and how they impact the practice of law in Colorado.`

SUMMARY:40 Hour Mediation Training – IN PERSON ONLY
DESCRIPTION:The 40-Hour Basic Mediation Training is the foundational course for anyone pursuing a career as a mediator in Colorado. Although Colorado does not legally mandate training to practice as a mediator\, 40 hours is the recognized professional standard — required by the Mediation Association of Colorado for certification\, required by the Office of Dispute Resolution for court-referred work\, and widely expected across alternative dispute resolution generally. Completing this course positions you to pursue those credentials and to practice with the skill and ethical grounding the profession expects. \nOver five full days\, you’ll move from core concepts to live roleplay\, building the judgment\, communication skills\, and ethical grounding that distinguish effective mediators from adequate ones.
