Week of July 2-8, 2024

The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals found the district court erred in its sentencing of Sunset Mesa Funeral Home operators Megan Hess and Shirley Koch. Also this week, the Colorado Court of Appeals found that the Colorado Constitution prohibited immigrant arrests and detentions carried out by the Teller County Sheriff’s Office in their agreement with ICE. Law Week also published special follow-up coverage of the Getches-Wilkinson Center Conference on the Colorado River, during which Native American leaders expressed a desire to be a part of the 2026 negotiation process, but also want to ensure that their senior water rights are respected.
