Governor appoints Kyle W. Brenton to the Colorado Court of Appeals

Gov. Jared Polis announced the appointment of Kyle W. Brenton to the Colorado Court of Appeals. The appointment fills the vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable Gilbert M. Román, and is effective August 1, 2026.

Brenton is an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Appellate Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado, a position he has held since 2021. His practice consists of appellate litigation on behalf of the United States. Previously, Brenton was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado (2018-2021); Of Counsel at Childs McCune LLC (2018); Attorney at Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP (2010-2018); and Law Clerk for Judge David M. Ebel, U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit (2009-2010). Brenton earned his B.A. from Vanderbilt University in 2000 and his J.D. from University of Minnesota Law School in 2009.
