
Gov. Jared Polis on May 14 appointed Donald P. Delaney to Larimer County Court in the 8th Judicial District effective July 1, 2026. This appointment fills a new judgeship created by Senate Bill 25-024.
Delaney has served as a magistrate in the 8th Judicial District since 2025, where his docket consists of juvenile matters.
Previously, he was managing partner at Delaney Law Firm PLLC from 2018 to 2025 and from 2010 to 2012; managing partner at Diamond Global Partners LLC from 2012 to 2018; senior associate at Labaton Sucharow LLP from 2006 to 2010; assistant attorney general in the New York State Attorney General’s Office from 2004 to 2006; public defender at the Legal Aid Society of Suffolk County in New York from 2003 to 2004; and an associate at Mayer Brown LLP from 2001 to 2003.
Delaney earned a bachelor’s degree from New York University in 1996 and a law degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 2001.
