Voting Rights After Louisiana v. Callais – Webinar
The United States Supreme Court’s recent voting-rights decisions are transforming the rules governing political power. The latest of these decisions was issued on April 29, 2026, in Louisiana v. Callais, holding that Louisiana’s creation of an additional majority-minority legislative district was an unconstitutional racial gerrymander. This CLE examines how Callais may encourage increasingly aggressive partisan redistricting, why minority voters may ultimately bear the costs, and how the weakening of the Voting Rights Act presents both a profound loss and an opportunity to reconsider the future of voting-rights advocacy. Come with questions to this interactive Zoom lunch presentation with University of Colorado Law School Professor Douglas M. Spencer, Ira C. Rothberger Chair in Constitutional Law, as he analyzes the Court’s decision.
