Gov. Polis Appoints Judge Chantel Contiguglia to the 1st Judicial District Court

Gov. Jared Polis on Nov. 15 appointed Judge Chantel Contiguglia to the 1st Judicial District Court replacing retiring Judge Randall Arp, effective Jan. 1, 2024. 

Contiguglia is an Arapahoe County Court judge in the 18th Judicial District, a position she’s held since 2018. Her docket consists of criminal and civil matters, according to the announcement. 


Previously, Contiguglia was the supervising deputy in 2018, lead deputy from 2017 to 2018, senior deputy from 2008 to 2017 and deputy from 2007 to 2008 for the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender in the Golden office. 

Contiguglia earned her bachelor’s degree from Mesa State College in 2002 and her J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2006.
