
Holland & Knight has added Mara Sheldon as a senior policy advisor to its Public Policy & Regulation Practice Group in Denver.
Sheldon represents states, municipalities, private sector companies and nonprofits on legislative and regulatory matters regarding renewable energy, environment and natural resources, healthcare, tourism and hospitality and banking and financial services issues.
She also serves as Colorado’s federal liaison at the National Governors Association, for which she has been the conduit for the state with the Trump and Biden administrations and the nation’s governors.
Sheldon previously served as communications director and spokesperson for Gov. Jared Polis’ gubernatorial campaign as well as the communications director for several members of Congress, including former Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce John Dingell and current Ranking Member of the House Committee on Small Business Nydia Velázquez.
Sheldon’s board experience includes past leadership roles with The Summit Foundation, Rose Women’s Group and Team Breckenridge Sports Club.

Sheldon was previously a principal with Squire Patton Boggs. She received her B.A. from the University of Missouri.
