The Colorado Judicial Institute (CJI) has opened nominations for the 2026 Judicial Excellence Awards, honoring district and county court judges and magistrates who exemplify fairness, integrity, and professionalism in Colorado’s trial courts.
Since 2000, CJI’s Judicial Excellence Awards have recognized the work of outstanding Colorado district court judges, county court judges, and magistrates. The awards are based on nominations from peers in the judiciary, court staff, attorneys, and the citizens of Colorado. Awardees are celebrated at CJI’s Judicial Excellence for Colorado Gala Dinner each fall. Click here to see past awardees.
CJI asks that if you’ve appeared before a judicial officer who impressed you, through preparation, respect for all parties, or commitment to justice, to nominate them for this award. All nominations, including information about the nominator, will be kept completely confidential. Nominations close May 14. To nominate a judge, visit the nomination page.
