66th Annual John R. Coen Lecture

Join us for the 66th Annual John R. Coen Lecture titled “Indigenous People’s Rights in a Changing Global Landscape” featuring Dr. Albert K. Barume. Dr Albert K. Barume was appointed as Special Rapporteur on the rights of Indigenous Peoples in December 2024. He has over 25 years of experience working on Indigenous Peoples’ rights at national, regional and international levels. A national of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Dr. Barume was among the first lawyers to work on Indigenous Peoples’ rights in the 1990s in Africa. The lecture will take place from 5:30-6:30pm with a reception to follow for in-person attendees from 6:30-7:30pm.

One general CLE credit is pending for Colorado attorneys and judges.

The Coen lectureship was established in 1955 in memory of John Coen, a distinguished member of the Colorado bar and an able public speaker. The lectureship seeks to bring a prominent and distinguished lawyer, jurist, or scholar of law to deliver an annual lecture to Colorado Law’s students, faculty, and alumni on a legal subject of interest and benefit to the profession, preferably with some public or political aspect.
