Arizona Supreme Court created AI reporters to cover court opinions, news – one year out

The Arizona Supreme Court previously unveiled two AI generated reporters to cover their cases and happenings at the Arizona Supreme Court. These reporters, named Daniel and Victoria, were developed by the court to ” keep the public informed about court-related news, information and activities.” The court stated that “the AI duo specializes in delivering clear, accessible explanations of case decisions and opinions. The Court initially explored producing brief videos to accompany case decisions and news releases, but timeliness became a factor. By implementing AI-generated avatars, the Court achieved similar results in significantly less time.”

One year out, Alberto Rodriguez, the Arizona Supreme Court’s Communications Director, reported that the use of AI has improved efficiency within the court. Rodriguez works with the justices to create “a script that the Public can understand.”  The opinions are posted on the court’s official website, as well as all social media channels. Next steps include offering the opinions in other languages.
