People v. Steven J. Barr

In July 2023, a client hired Steven Barr to represent her in a dissolution of marriage case. During a conversation with his client in August 2023, Barr referred to the opposing counsel as “that b—-.” Later, during a different conversation with his client, Barr referred to his own client as “the pretty little b—-.”

In addition, Barr failed to file a reply in support of a motion to freeze assets that he had submitted on his client’s behalf, despite seeking and receiving an extension to file the reply from the court presiding in the matter.

The presiding disciplinary judge approved Barr’s stipulation to discipline and suspended him for six months, all to be stayed upon Barr’s successful completion of a two-year probation, with conditions. Barr’s probation took effect on May 5.
