Faegre Drinker and DGS Name New Partners, Judgeship Candidates Announced

Law Firm Updates

Ireland Stapleton Pryor & Pascoe announced Dec. 6 that Veronica Torok joined the firm as a business and real estate attorney. Torok focuses on corporate contracts and governance, real estate, land use and environmental and energy matters. The University of Denver Sturm College of Law graduate interned with the City and County of Denver city attorney’s office and was a summer associate for Ireland Stapleton in 2021. 


National firm Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath promoted 26 attorneys to partner and six attorneys to counsel, with three Denver-based attorneys, Christopher Casolaro, Sari Long and Katie McDermott, t0 be promoted to partner effective Jan. 1, 2023. Casolaro, a trial and appellate litigator, has experience defending clients in product liability and commercial litigation. Long helps companies create immigration strategies and advises on other immigration and employment issues. McDermott, a real estate attorney, focuses on condemnation cases, special district financing and other real estate matters.

Davis Graham & Stubbs announced six new partners on Dec. 9 Effective Jan. 1, 2023, Andrea Bronson, Nathan Goergen, Jonathan Goldstein, Almira Moronne, Alena Prokop and Daniel Richards will become partners. Bronson focuses on water, natural resources and environmental law. Goergen specialized in mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures in a variety of industries. Goldstein’s practice focuses on real estate law and represents clients in acquisitions, dispositions, construction and development. Moronne specializes in mergers and acquisitions and financing transactions for natural resource, metal and manufacturing companies. Prokop focuses her practice on the design, administration and taxes of executive compensation arrangements. Richards specializes in civil litigation and represents domestic and international corporations. 

The Judiciary 

Eleven candidates applied for a district court judgeship in the 6th Judicial District covering Archuleta, La Plata and San Juan counties. The applicants are Anthony Baca of Dolores, Christian Champagne of Durango, Anthony Edwards of Silverton, Justin Fay of Pagosa Springs, Sarah Law of Durango, Matt Margeson of Dolores, Mary Pero of Durango, Douglas Reynolds of Durango, Barbara Stauch of Denver, Reid Stewart of Hesperus and Todd Weaver of Pagosa Springs. The 6th Judicial District Nominating Commission will meet Dec. 20 to consider candidates. 

The 9th Judicial District Nominating Commission selected three candidates for a Rio Blanco County and Rio Blanco Associate County Court judgeship created by the Nov. 11 death of Judge Joe Fennessy. The nominees, Jay Edwards of Meeker, Phillip Smith of Grand Junction and Janelle Surace of Rifle, were selected Dec. 2. Under the Colorado Constitution, the governor has 15 days from Dec. 8 to appoint one of the nominees. 

Movers and Shakers

Denver firm Fairfield and Woods announced Dec. 7 plans to move its office from the 26th floor of the Transamerica Building to the 49th floor. The firm is downsizing its office space to accommodate its hybrid work model and the office will be a complete rebuild focused on collaborative workspaces, innovative technology and wellness features. The firm anticipates moving by the summer of 2024.
