Gov. Polis Announces Panel to Review Applications for the District Attorney in the 6th Judicial District

Gov. Jared Polis on Feb. 13 announced a panel to review applications for the appointment of the new district attorney for the 6th Judicial District. 

DA Christian Champagne announced he will step down from the 6th Judicial District effective mid-March. 


“I encourage well-qualified attorneys who want to serve the public and help make Colorado one of the safest states in the nation to apply to be the chief prosecutor in the 6th Judicial District,” said Polis in the announcement. 

The panel members include former Colorado governor and former 2nd Judicial District Attorney Bill Ritter, 1st Judicial District Attorney Alexis King, 21st Judicial District Attorney Dan Rubenstein, 12th Judicial District Attorney Anne Kelly and Chief Legal Counsel for Governor Polis Kara Veitch. 

The application process will remain open until qualified candidates are found, the announcement noted. Interviews will begin the week of March 4. Those interested can submit resumes and cover letters to [email protected]. The salary for this position is $130,000 a year.
