Gov. Polis Appoints Amy Touart to the Arapahoe County Court

Gov. Jared Polis on Aug. 3 appointed Amy Touart to the Arapahoe County Court in the 18th Judicial District. The vacancy was created by the appointment of Judge LaQunya Baker to the 18th Judicial District Court and is effective immediately.  

Touart is a supervising deputy public defender in the Centennial Office of the Colorado State Public Defender, a position she’s held since 2022. Her practice consists of criminal matters, according to the announcement. 


Previously, she was a lead deputy public defender in the Arapahoe Public Defender’s Office from 2018 to 2022, attorney in the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the Southern District of Texas from 2017 to 2018 and deputy public defender in the Centennial Public Defender’s Office from 2010 to 2017. 

Touart earned her bachelor’s degree from Auburn University in 2007 and her J.D. from Samford University in 2010.
