Gov. Polis Appoints Matthew Margeson to the Dolores County Court in the 22nd Judicial District

Gov. Jared Polis on Feb. 8 appointed Matthew Margeson to the Dolores County Court in the 22nd Judicial District. The vacancy was created by the appointment of Judge Anthony Baca and is effective immediately.

Margeson is the district attorney for the 22nd Judicial District, a position he’s held since 2021. His practice consisted of criminal prosecution. Previously, he was the assistant DA for the 22nd Judicial District from 2017 to 2021, deputy DA for the 22nd Judicial District from 2014 to 2017 and a partner at Margeson & Reed, LLC. from 2007 to 2014.

Margeson received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in 2004 and his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2007.

This appointment will create a vacancy in the Office of the District Attorney in the 22nd Judicial District, according to the announcement. Next week, Polis will announce a process for receiving and evaluating applications for that position and a timeline for appointing someone to that vacancy.
