Local Firm Announces New Attorney; 14th Judicial District Announces Vacancy

Law Firm Updates

Spencer Fane LLP announced Sept. 19 Evan Singleton joined the real estate practice group as an associate in the firm’s Denver office. With a focus on commercial real estate, Singleton assists clients with negotiating and drafting documents for real estate projects from the ground up, including purchase and sale contracts, easements, title review, restrictive covenants, declarations and maintenance agreements, leases, financing documents and construction contracts. He has represented purchasers and sellers of real estate, with experience in navigating complex environmental matters related to the transaction and subsequent development of property. Singleton earned his law degree from the Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law.


The Judiciary

The 14th Judicial District Nominating Commission will meet Nov. 7, to interview and select nominees for appointment by the governor to the office of district judge for the 14th Judicial District. The vacancy will be created by the retirement of Judge Sandra Gardner. The vacancy will occur Jan. 1, 2024. To be eligible, the applicant must be a qualified elector of the 14th Judicial District at the time of investiture and must have been admitted to the practice of law in Colorado for five years. Applications are available here. The completed application must be e-mailed to [email protected] no later than 4 p.m. Oct. 5. Any person wishing to suggest a candidate to fill the vacancy may do so by letter to be submitted to any member of the nominating commission, with a copy to the ex officio chair, no later than 4 p.m. Sept.28. 

Odds and Ends

Ireland Stapleton Pryor & Pascoe, PC announced Sept. 20 attorney Julie Walker has been included in the Women in Dispute Resolution Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section of Dispute Resolution’s 2023 Directory of ADR Practitioners. WIDR’s directory helps users of alternate dispute resolution services locate and engage with a list of highly qualified female neutrals. Walker is a litigation attorney and ADR professional at Ireland Stapleton, where she leads the firm’s litigation and ADR practice groups. She has experience as a trial attorney representing individuals and businesses in federal and state courts in various matters. Walker serves as an ADR professional in the roles of arbitrator and mediator.  

It was announced Sept. 19 Boulder Deputy City Attorney Sandra Llanes has accepted a position as the city attorney for her hometown of Golden. In her new role, Llanes will be creating Golden’s first in-house legal team. Llanes’ last day will be Sept. 29.
