Gov. Polis Appoints Magistrate Judge Monica Haenselman to Boulder County Court

Gov. Jared Polis on April 6 appointed Magistrate Judge Monica Haenselman to the Boulder County Court in the 20th Judicial District. The vacancy was created by the death of Judge Kristy Martinez and is effective immediately. 

Haenselman is a district court magistrate in the 20th Judicial District, a position she’s held since 2015. Her docket consists primarily of criminal, family and juvenile matters, according to the announcement. 


Previously, Haenselman was a family court facilitator in the 20th Judicial District from 2007 to 2015, an associate attorney at LaBuda & Associates from 2005 to 2007, a paraprofessional at Summit Middle School from 2004 to 2005 and an associate attorney at Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal in Chicago from 1991 to 1993. 

Haenselman earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado in 1985 and her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1991.
