Gov. Polis Appoints Magistrate Matthew Zehe to the Larimer County Court in the 8th Judicial District

Gov. Jared Polis on Oct. 27 appointed Magistrate Matthew Zehe to fill a vacancy on the Larimer County Court in the 8th Judicial District created by the retirement of Judge Mary Joan Berenato, effective immediately. 

Zehe is a district court magistrate in the 8th Judicial District, a position he’s held since 2006. His docket consists primarily of juvenile matters, according to the announcement. Previously, he was a deputy state public defender in Fort Collins from 1996 to 2006, a contract attorney with the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender in Denver from 1995 to 1996 and a law clerk at Jesse N. Lipschuetz, P.C. in 1995. Zehe earned his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in 1991 and his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 1995.
