Local Firms Announce New Attorneys; Denver County Court Announces Newly Created Magistrate Position

Law Firm Updates

Sherman & Howard LLC announced Oct. 13 the addition of tax attorney Isaac Lodico to the corporate and transactional practice group in their Denver office. Lodico’s expertise includes corporate taxation, consolidated returns, tax procedures, natural resources taxation, property taxation, fiduciary income taxation and tax research. 


BAM Family Law announced Oct. 17 Kayla Bowman has joined the Denver law firm as an associate attorney. She had previously worked as a law clerk at BAM prior to being admitted to the Colorado Bar in September 2023. 

FisherBroyles, LLP announced Oct. 20 Patricia Ho has been appointed a partner of the firm. Her practice spans industries, including software start-ups, product packaging manufacturers and distributors, and other business services. She is also experienced in IP licensing, diligence counsel in transactional matters and acting as outside general counsel to clients. 

The Judiciary 

The 17th Judicial District Nominating Commission will meet at the Adams County Justice Center Dec. 4 to interview and select nominees for appointment by the governor to the office of district judge for the 17th Judicial District. The vacancy will be created by the retirement of Chief Judge Donald Quick and will occur Jan. 23, 2024. Applications can be found here. The completed application must be emailed to the address listed in the instructions no later than 4 p.m. Nov. 9. Late applications will not be considered. Any person wishing to suggest a candidate to fill the vacancy may do so by letter to be submitted to any member of the nominating commission, with a copy to the ex officio chair, no later than 4 p.m. Nov. 2.

The Denver County Court announced Oct. 16 it’s accepting applications from attorneys to fill a newly created full-time magistrate position. Experience in an arraignment court is preferred. The salary is $160,032.00 per year with benefits. Applicants are not required to be qualified electors of the City and County of Denver. Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, LLP announced Oct. 17 two of the firm’s attorneys have recently taken on new roles with the Colorado Lawyers Committee. David Meschke, a shareholder in Brownstein’s litigation department, has joined the CLC’s Executive Committee and will also co-chair its Education Task Force. Meschke has served on the board of directors of the CLC for four years. Rosa Baum, an associate in the firm’s litigation department, has joined the CLC’s Young Lawyers Division Board. In her role, Baum will assist with election-related special projects, including heading the CLC’s Nonpartisan Election Call Center. 

Odds & Ends

The Denver County Court will host Free Legal Resource Day in support of the American Bar Association’s National Celebration of Pro Bono. Classes will be offered (in-person and online) on topics including landlord/renter issues, estate planning, divorce and custody, and protection orders. There will also be free 30-minute “Ask an Attorney” sessions. The event will take place Oct. 26 from 8 to 4 p.m. at the Denver City and County Building. The event is sponsored by the Colorado Judicial Institute.
