Gov. Polis Appoints Judge Anthony Baca to 6th Judicial District Court

Gov. Jared Polis on Jan. 5 appointed Judge Anthony Baca to a vacancy on the 6th Judicial District Court created by the resignation of Judge Todd Norvell, effective Jan. 14. 

Baca was appointed as a La Plata County Court judge last month to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Anne Woods. 


Baca was the owner of Baca Consulting from 2015 to 2022, manager of the Institute for the Advancement of the American Legal System at the University of Denver from 2017 to 2018, an attorney at the Office of the Municipal Defender in Denver in 2016, an attorney at Mountain Legal, L.L.C. from 2011 to 2016 and assistant to the public defender at New Mexico Law Offices of the Public Defender from 2010 to 2011. 

Baca earned his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University in 2003 and his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 2009.
